Independent Lighting ConsultantMs. Gotti was the manager of the GE Lighting Institute in Cleveland, Ohio. She was responsible for the overall operation and curriculum development for this training and education center, which hosted over 4,000 visitors a year. She worked in the lighting business of GE for almost 40 years. She held a number of positions in lamp technology and marketing, including lamp development engineer for incandescent and metal halide lamps, research physicist, senior product and application specialist, and manager of lighting education. She has BS and MS degrees in Physics and an MBA degree from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. Ms. Gotti served on the Board of Directors of the IES for five years, and on the executive committee of the National Lighting Bureau. She is lighting certified (LC) by NCQLP (National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions). Ms. Gotti is currently an independent lighting consultant.

Author of The Professional Amenity Plant Appraisal HandbookIn the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, Mr. Shaw grew up in the sleepy little Appalachian town of Bristol, Tennessee, a small city that rests on the boundary between the two states of Tennessee and Virginia. Upon graduation from Bristol Tennessee High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as ships baker aboard the USS Shark (a fast attack submarine) for four years. When his enlistment came to an end, he took a job selling lawn care service to residential owners in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later, moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where he worked as general manager of a landscape contracting company while attending the University of Tennessee for Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design. Eventually, Mr. Shaw took over as president of a wholesale tree care supply business and built the company from $70,000 in sales to over $1.2 million in just seven years. During that time, he married his wife Kristin and they had two children together. With encouragement from Kristin he also developed an interest in arboricultural consulting, and on May 11th, 1999, he became the first American Society of Consulting Arborist (ASCA) member in Middle Tennessee. From 1998 to 2003, he also served on the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council. Mr. Shaw has since consulted with private landowners, insurance companies, attorneys, tree companies, cooperative extension service agents, country clubs, state urban forestry organizations, universities, and colleges. He has worked on some of the most challenging, difficult, and highest profile cases across the United States. Mr. Shaw is a registered consulting arborist, a board-certified master arborist and one of only a handful of arborists worldwide who consult full-time. He is a UAS pilot, a real estate appraiser and he brings a broad range of skills from a variety of scientific and professional disciplines. An autodidact, Mr. Shaw brings a unique perspective and a talent for learning to any project. He has developed authoritative expertise to create a greater understanding in tree related matters.

He previously served as national manager of ACF Environmental/Ferguson Waterworks and as regional vice president for FABCO Industries where he was responsible for engineering design, specification, and installation of manufactured stormwater management systems. Mr. Gorneau earned a BS degree in Biological Systems Engineering and an MS degree in Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln which provided the necessary knowledge for him to launch his career into the technical sales and specified engineered products industry. Principal and Owner, Waterstone Engineering, PLLCDr. Roseen is a recognized industry leader in green infrastructure and urban watershed renewal, and he is the recipient of an Environmental Merit Award by the US Environmental Protection Agency Region 1. He consults nationally and locally on stormwater management and planning and currently leads one of the first-in-the-nation integrated planning efforts in coastal New Hampshire. He directed the University of New Hampshire Stormwater Center for 10 years and is well versed in the practice, policy and planning of stormwater management. Dr. Roseen has 20 years of experience in the investigation, design, testing and implementation of innovative approaches to stormwater management. Water Compliance Engineer, The Ohio State UniversityMr. Halloran has worked for over 30 years in the field of stormwater, potable water, wastewater engineering design and construction. He has also worked as a design and construction engineer in the areas of municipal, industrial, and airport drainage among other areas. He serves as The Ohio State University’s water compliance engineer and has served as an adjunct faculty professor in the Civil, Environmental, and Geodetic Engineering Department (https://ceg.osu.edu/). He is also the faculty advisor for two student organizations. In the past, Mr. Halloran served as the town engineer for several communities and has promoted the concepts of sustainability throughout his career. Dr. Scott Hardy, PhD
Dr. Hardy is an extension educator with Ohio Sea Grant and The Ohio State University based in Cleveland. He conducts applied research and develops education and outreach programs on collaborative watershed management, marine debris prevention, community-based response to ecological change, and other issues facing Lake Erie and the Great Lakes region. The results of his work help to inform decision-making among practitioners and policymakers, as well as educate local and regional stakeholders about issues impacting Lake Erie, its tributaries, and the surrounding watershed. Prior to joining Ohio Sea Grant in 2015, Dr. Hardy gained experience in a variety of different roles related to environmental management and community development. He completed a bachelor of science degree in Environmental Geography from Ohio University, a Master of Professional Studies in Natural Resources from Cornell University, and a PhD in Environment and Natural Resources from The Ohio State University. He also served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras, and later joined the faculty at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland, where he was chair of the Environmental Studies Department. Most recently, Dr. Hardy spent two years as assistant dean of Undergraduate Studies at Case Western Reserve University, before returning to his research and educational interests with Ohio Sea Grant. When not working he enjoys hiking, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors with family and friends. He lives in northeast Ohio with his wife and daughter, not far from the Lake Erie coast.

Dr. Liptak earned a B.S. degree in Biology at the University of Toledo and a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Science at Ohio State University under the noted wetland ecologist Dr. William Mitsch. He has over 25 years of experience in wetlands research and consulting and is a Certified Senior Ecologist (Ecological Society of America). His primary responsibilities at EnviroScience Inc. include wetland mitigation planning, wetland assessments and delineations, technical report preparation, and permitting. Dr. Liptak is a member of the Society of Wetlands Scientists and the Ecological Society of America, and regularly gives seminars on wetland issues and regulations.
Karen Menetrey
Director of Ecological Opportunities at Rio Grande ReturnMs. Menetrey provides advocacy, communication, project-development and monitoring support to the River Restoration and Habitat Conservation programs. Ms. Menetrey worked for the New Mexico Environment Department for 30 years in various programs that protect and restore surface water and groundwater. In the Surface Water Quality Bureau, she oversaw the River Stewardship Program that restored rivers, streams and riparian areas throughout the state, and worked in the Wetlands Program on wetland mapping, planning, protection and restoration. In the Ground Water Quality Bureau, she worked on pollution prevention, revitalization of Brownfields properties, and cleanup of groundwater and soil contamination. Ms. Menetrey graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a B.A. degree in Geological Sciences and took graduate coursework in Hydrogeology at the University of Wyoming.

Mike Becker
Mr. Becker was born and raised in Minnesota. He grew up in Minneapolis until he graduated high school. He was always an outdoor enthusiast growing up. He moved to northern Minnesota to Itasca Community College where he earned an associate degree in forestry, then transferred to University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management. He has worked for more than 15 years in the area of wetland management throughout Minnesota. Mr. Becker has four years of wetland restoration experience and 11 years working on delineation and enforcement of wetland regulations in both the public and private sector. He works tirelessly to help ensure that wetlands are properly managed in Morrison County. He lives in Little Falls, Minnesota with his wife and four kids. He enjoys tinkering in his shop and messing about in boats.
Larissa Herrera
Senior Biologist with Holland EngineeringMs. Herrera is an aquatic biologist with over eight years of experience in natural resource assessment, including wetland delineations, environmental permitting, stream assessments, mussel/macroinvertebrate surveys and identification, and threatened and endangered species surveys. She graduated with a B.S. degree in Biology and Program in the Environment (PitE) from the University of Michigan and an M.S. degree in Water Resource Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Ms. Herrera recently moved back to the mitten to work for Holland Engineering’s Environmental Group. She holds a USFWS permit to survey and handle federally listed mussel species. Her favorite mussels are the spectaclecase and snuffbox.
