Construction Management Professor at Bowling Green State UniversityDr. Atalah teaches construction management at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). He has taught and mentored hundreds of construction management students since 2000. Dr. Atalah has written many peer-reviewed-journal and conference papers. Engineering Geology Program leader for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT)Mr. Mohney is the Engineering Geology Program leader for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). The Engineering Geology Program at ODOT encompasses site characterization, subsurface exploration, slopes and embankments, geologic hazards, groundwater, geotechnical instrumentation, and planning and research activities. In this role, he also oversees the Unstable Slopes (landslide/ rockfall) Program for ODOT. He is a registered geologist and a certified engineering geologist in Oregon with over 30 years of experience in Oregon and the western states. Mr. Mohney has been the Engineering Geology Program leader since 2004. Prior to this, he had been a staff and project-level geologist for consulting firms and the mining industry as well as for ODOT. He is a graduate of the Geology Program at Portland State University. Civil Engineering Manager at Ware MalcombMr. Nuño is a civil engineering manager at the Denver office of Ware Malcomb. A 2008 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a specialty in structural and environmental engineering, he has established himself as a leader in the field of drainage and erosion and sediment control. He has previously been an Applications Engineer with Autodesk and is certified to train and support various Autodesk products. In 1992 the University of Iowa graduate began promoting geosynthetic and erosion control materials throughout the Midwest. Mr. Buch moved to Wisconsin in 1995 to head up the environmental specialty precast division of Modern Building Materials, Inc., based out of Kenosha, Wisconsin. His responsibilities included the start-up, promotion, manufacturing, and installation of articulating concrete block/mats (ACB/M’s) and precast stormwater treatment tanks throughout the Midwest. Scott Gorneau, P.E.
Vice President, Convergent Water Technologies, in Houston, TXMr. Gorneau is responsible for offering innovative green infrastructure/low impact stormwater solutions that enable new applications and raise the bar on performance, cost effectiveness, and verification. He previously served as national manager of ACF Environmental/Ferguson Waterworks and as regional vice president for FABCO Industries where he was responsible for engineering design, specification, and installation of manufactured stormwater management systems. Mr. Gorneau earned a BS degree in Biological Systems Engineering and an MS degree in Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln which provided the necessary knowledge for him to launch his career into the technical sales and specified engineered products industry. He spent the subsequent time since graduation gaining experience and expanding his knowledge of the industry on a wide variety of civil and environmental engineering design projects for private and public sector clients. Mr. Gorneau is a registered professional engineer in Maine and New Hampshire, and he is a Maine certified stormwater inspector. Kent Halloran
Water Compliance Engineer, The Ohio State UniversityMr. Halloran has worked for over 30 years in the field of stormwater, potable water, wastewater engineering design and construction. He has also worked as a design and construction engineer in the areas of municipal, industrial, and airport drainage among other areas. He serves as The Ohio State University’s water compliance engineer and has served as an adjunct faculty professor in the Civil, Environmental, and Geodetic Engineering Department (https://ceg.osu.edu/). He is also the faculty advisor for two student organizations. In the past, Mr. Halloran served as the town engineer for several communities and has promoted the concepts of sustainability throughout his career. Throughout his career he has encouraged the use of natural systems, such as constructed wetlands, and the conversion of retention basins using native wetland plants to improve stormwater retention, increase pollutant removal, and provide pollinator and wetland habitat. He earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University and a M.E. degree in Environmental Systems Engineering from Clemson University. He is a licensed professional engineer in the States of Ohio and Idaho.
Curran E. Mohney
Engineering Geology Program leader for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT)Mr. Mohney is the Engineering Geology Program leader for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). The Engineering Geology Program at ODOT encompasses site characterization, subsurface exploration, slopes and embankments, geologic hazards, groundwater, geotechnical instrumentation, and planning and research activities. In this role, he also oversees the Unstable Slopes (landslide/ rockfall) Program for ODOT. He is a registered geologist and a certified engineering geologist in Oregon with over 30 years of experience in Oregon and the western states. Mr. Mohney has been the Engineering Geology Program leader since 2004. Prior to this, he had been a staff and project-level geologist for consulting firms and the mining industry as well as for ODOT. He is a graduate of the Geology Program at Portland State University. During his professional career, Mr. Mohney has been involved in the investigation, design, and construction of a wide range of challenging earthwork projects including high fills on soft ground, side slope embankments, and cut slopes in mixed-face conditions. His other work includes landslide and rockfall mitigation, ground improvement, and dewatering.
Manuel “Manny” Nuño, P.E., CFM, LEED AP, CPESC
Civil Engineering Manager at Ware MalcombMr. Nuño is a civil engineering manager at the Denver office of Ware Malcomb. A 2008 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a specialty in structural and environmental engineering, he has established himself as a leader in the field of drainage and erosion and sediment control. In his 15-year career, Mr. Nuño has excelled in the design of land development projects including grading, utility design, stormwater management, and erosion control. Through his experiences as a consulting engineer, he has prepared civil construction plans for such clients as Marriott International, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), Lennar Homes, Oakwood Homes, and Kiewit Infrastructure West. In the field, Mr. Nuño has provided stormwater inspection services for SDG&E, Caesars Entertainment Group, and public agencies such as the City of Carlsbad, California, and the Town of Elizabeth, Colorado. He has managed civil projects in 17 different states and prides himself on working with developers, architects, and contractors to bridge the gap between regulatory compliance and constructability in the field. Mr. Nuño is a registered professional engineer in Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, and California; a Certified Floodplain Manager; a certified professional in erosion and sediment control, a Colorado LEED accredited professional, and a qualified SWPPP developer/practitioner. He is an active member in the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Urban Land Institute, and the Colorado Association of Stormwater and Floodplain Managers.

President and Owner of Pave Drain, LLC, in Keystone, IAMr. Buch is a 30 year veteran of the construction industry. In 1992 the University of Iowa graduate began promoting geosynthetic and erosion control materials throughout the Midwest. Mr. Buch moved to Wisconsin in 1995 to head up the environmental specialty precast division of Modern Building Materials, Inc., based out of Kenosha, Wisconsin. She earned her Ph.D. degree in Environment and Natural Resources from The Ohio State University.
Taylor Sturm, PWS, CE
B. Laing Associates, Inc., in Jericho, NYMr. Sturm has been a practicing wetland scientist since he joined the firm in 2012 and has been a partner since 2019. He has delineated and/or assisted with delineating hundreds of acres of freshwater and tidal wetlands and has managed and conducted numerous surveys for endangered/threatened flora and fauna. In addition, Mr. Sturm conducts or assists with conducting environmental analyses such as air quality and sound level studies on a wide range of projects. He is a project manager in his own right but frequently provides technical assistance in terms of AutoCAD drawings and data collection. A graduate from Stony Brook University, Mr. Sturm obtained a B.S. degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and a B.A. degree in German Language and Literature. He has led his own small civil engineering and land surveying practice for over 36 years with two offices and up to 28 employees. His experience includes designing private land developments, storm water management systems, sanitary sewer systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and roadways. He is currently the past president, past treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for HBRAM (the Massachusetts Homebuilders Association), past president of NEBA, and a national delegate of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) based in Washington, DC. In 2024 Mr Brem was appointed by Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey to serve on the prestigious “Unlocking Housing Production Commission” to advise the Governor and the Secretary of Housing and Livable Communities on strategies and recommendations to create over 230,000 new residential units in Massachusetts over the next 10 years. He is a proud 35+ year member of the Westford Rotary Club. He has co-authored, with Harvard Law School Professors Joseph William Singer and Brandon Storm, a legal case study on real estate development entitled the “Case of the Interfaith Neighbors”, July 2016 (PSW021-SM01). In addition to engineering, Mr. Brem has been a land developer and homebuilder recently constructing 25 residential homes in the metrowest area of Massachusetts.
