Wendy Lathrop, PLS, CFM, CFS
President and Owner of Cadastral Consulting, LLCMs. Lathrop is licensed as a professional land surveyor in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland, and as a professional planner in New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree in Environmental Policy and has been involved in surveying since 1974 in projects ranging from construction to boundary to environmental land use disputes. Ms. Lathrop is also a certified floodplain manager through the Association of State Flood Plain Managers (ASFPM) and a certified floodplain surveyor through the New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors. A former adjunct instructor at Mercer County College in New Jersey, she has also taught as part of the team for the licensing exam review course at Drexel University in Pennsylvania. Ms. Lathrop has been teaching seminars for surveyors since 1986 and has been writing articles for surveyors since 1983. She is a contributing editor for The American Surveyor magazine, and she has four articles included in the American Bar Association’s text, Land Surveys: A Guide for Lawyers and Other Professionals. She and Stephen V. Estopinal, PLS, PE co–authored a book entitled Professional Surveyors and Real Property Descriptions: Composition, Construction, and Comprehension, published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. in 2011. She is also on the faculty of GeoLearn, a web-based educational provider. Ms. Lathrop is a past president of the New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors and of the National Society of Professional Surveyors, and she has served on the Board of Directors for the American Association for Geodetic Surveying.

Associate Professor, New Jersey Institute of Technology, School of Applied Engineering & TechnologyDr. Laramie Potts is an associate professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in the School of Applied Engineering and Technology where he teaches geomatics, geomathematics, geodesy, boundary law principles, and land development. His research interest and activities include engineering education, boundary line retracement, geomorphology, autonomous robotic mobile mapping, multi-sensor integration for navigation in GNSS-challenged environments, and application of artificial intelligence on reality capture data for digital twin engineering. His research activities in planetary science include satellite gravity and topography studies of the Earth, Moon, and other planets. His more notable recent research results include an explanation for the ‘Man in the Moon’ in the context of the lunar core effects of giant meteorite impacts as inferred from satellite gravity and laser altimetry observations. Another widely publicized result is the discovery of a possible giant meteorite impact crater beneath an ancient ice sheet in Wilkes Land Antarctica that may have contributed to the near total extinction of life about 250 million years ago. His work was covered by media outlets like The Washington Post, Universe Today – Space and Astronomy News, Internet Movie Database (IMDb) TV series (2015) What on Earth? Science Daily, New Scientist, Space.com, and other international newspapers. Dr. Potts received the 2023 Best Paper award from the American Society on Engineering Education. He is a member of the Reviewer Board of Applied Sciences – an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal on all aspects of applied natural sciences published semimonthly online by MDPI. Dr. Potts is also a member of the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET. He recently worked with the New Jersey Plainfield Historical Society to uncover landmarks and historical property boundaries of an unmarked militia camp of the Revolutionary War. President and Owner of Cadastral Consulting, LLCMs. Lathrop is licensed as a professional land surveyor in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland, and as a professional planner in New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree in Environmental Policy and has been involved in surveying since 1974 in projects ranging from construction to boundary to environmental land use disputes. Ms. Lathrop is also a certified floodplain manager through the Association of State Flood Plain Managers (ASFPM) and a certified floodplain surveyor through the New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors. A former adjunct instructor at Mercer County College in New Jersey, she has also taught as part of the team for the licensing exam review course at Drexel University in Pennsylvania. Ms. Lathrop has been teaching seminars for surveyors since 1986 and has been writing articles for surveyors since 1983. She is a contributing editor for The American Surveyor magazine, and she has four articles included in the American Bar Association’s text, Land Surveys: A Guide for Lawyers and Other Professionals. She and Stephen V. Estopinal, PLS, PE co–authored a book entitled Professional Surveyors and Real Property Descriptions: Composition, Construction, and Comprehension, published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. in 2011. He served as chair of the Joint ALTA/NSPS Committee responsible for the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey standards from 1995 to 2021. He has also served on the Indiana State Board of Registration for Professional Surveyors since 2004 and is a past-president of both ACSM and the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors.
