The Engineering Geology Program at ODOT encompasses site characterization, subsurface exploration, slopes and embankments, geologic hazards, groundwater, geotechnical instrumentation, and planning and research activities. Engineering Geology Program leader for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT)Mr. Mohney is the Engineering Geology Program leader for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). The Engineering Geology Program at ODOT encompasses site characterization, subsurface exploration, slopes and embankments, geologic hazards, groundwater, geotechnical instrumentation, and planning and research activities. In this role, he also oversees the Unstable Slopes (landslide/ rockfall) Program for ODOT. He is a registered geologist and a certified engineering geologist in Oregon with over 30 years of experience in Oregon and the western states. Mr. Mohney has been the Engineering Geology Program leader since 2004. Prior to this, he had been a staff and project-level geologist for consulting firms and the mining industry as well as for ODOT. He is a graduate of the Geology Program at Portland State University. During his professional career, Mr. Mohney has been involved in the investigation, design, and construction of a wide range of challenging earthwork projects including high fills on soft ground, side slope embankments, and cut slopes in mixed-face conditions. In his position, he helps deliver safety presentations, supports communication between utilities and the public, and advances initiatives that reduce damage to underground infrastructure. Mr. Bennett was recently named Safety Committee Chair for the National Utility Contractors Association, where he leads trench safety efforts, including organizing Trench Safety Stand Down Week and coordinating quarterly safety meetings to share critical industry updates. His appointment reflects his ongoing commitment to safety, education, and strengthening partnerships within the utility construction and excavation industry.
Christopher Courtney, P.E., P.S.
Chief Executive Officer at The C. W. John Barentine, PhD
Principal Consultant, Dark Sky Consulting, LLCMr. Barentine is the principal consultant at Dark Sky Consulting, LLC, and was formerly the Director of Public Policy for the International Dark-Sky Association. He earned a Ph.D. degree in Astronomy from the University of Texas at Austin, and he previously held staff positions at the National Solar Observatory, Apache Point Observatory, and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Throughout his career, he has been involved in education and outreach efforts to help increase the public understanding of science. He is a member of the American Astronomical Society and the International Astronomical Union, and he is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. The asteroid (14505) Barentine is named in his honor. His interests outside of astronomy and light pollution research include history, art and architecture, politics, law and current events.

Ms. Clanton is a member of the National Academy of Science committee on the assessment of solid state lighting. She is an International Standards Organization (ISO) 205 WG 7, USA delegate. Ms. Clanton received the 2018 Edison Report Lifetime Achievement Award, 2014 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Colorado Outstanding Woman Engineer Award, the International Clean Design Award, and the 2021 CU Engineering Distinguished Alumni Award.
Heather Holdridge, EIT
Associate AIA LEED Fellow, Associate Partner, Sustainability DirectorMs. Holdridge, LEED Fellow, EIT, Associate AIA is the Sustainability Director at Lake|Flato Architects. Leveraging her background in mechanical engineering, she directs all Lake|Flato teams in establishing sustainability goals. Ms. Holdridge devises strategies and systems to realize those goals under programs such as LEED, the 2030 Challenge, and the Living Building Challenge. She works closely with teams to evaluate passive systems and performs energy modeling throughout the design process. Ms. Holdridge received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
Candace Lord, BPI
Vice President at The Green Cocoon, LLCMs. Lord has lived on the Northshore for most of her life and currently lives in Kingston, New Hampshire. She started as the office manager in 2011, running everything from the office to marketing and sales. However, she was promoted to Vice President in 2018 and now focuses mainly on sales. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages from Northeastern University. Ms. Lord is an SPFA and BPI certified professional.
When not at the office, Ms. Lord enjoys being outdoors and will partake in just about any physical activity. She also enjoys spending time with her two children and her dogs. Founder and Owner of J.A. Smith Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. of Warminster, PAJ.A. Smith Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. has been in business over 39 years and specializes in the residential and light commercial HVAC market in southeastern Pennsylvania counties of Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia and adjacent counties in New Jersey. The company employs 50 people and serves the new construction, retro fit, and service/maintenance markets. Mr. Smith’s experience in the renewable energy HVAC field dates from involvement in numerous air source heat pump installations starting in the early 1970’s to the company’s current focus on closed loop geothermal installations. He holds an advanced CMS certification with the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) and holds a Master HVAC contractor’s license with the state of New Jersey. In addition to running J.A. Smith Heating & Air Conditioning Mr. Smith has also been active in teaching HVAC related topics on a local and national level since 1981. The agencies that he has presented for include Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI), Home Builders Association (HBA), Pennsylvania Power and Light (PPL).
