Whole Building Technical Commissioning
This webinar offers 6.0 PDHs to professional engineers and 6.0 HSW continuing
education hours to architects licensed in all states.

Jon Sheppard

President of Atlantic-Testing

Mr. Sheppard is a principal partner and president of Atlantic Testing, Inc, where he oversees all aspects of the firm’s commissioning, retro-commissioning, testing and balancing, sound & vibration, and building envelope testing activities. He has extensive experience in whole building systems testing and has been in the industry for over 25 years. Mr. Sheppard serves on the Board of Directors for NEBB and is currently the president-elect for 2021. Mr. Sheppard has served on, and chaired, both the Building Systems Commissioning and TAB Committees for NEBB. Mr. Sheppard is also an ACG Certified CxA. He has created and taught several certification courses, including Testing, Adjusting and Balancing for Certified Professionals and for Certified Technicians; Technical Commissioning for Professionals; Retro-Commissioning; and Commissioning Technician review seminars. Mr. Sheppard is a frequent speaker for NEBB, ASHRAE, and other organizations within the industry. He lives in Powhatan, Virginia, and is interested in music and watching his son tour with Drum Corp International during the summers.

Course Title: Whole Building Technical Commissioning

Course Description: This course on whole building commissioning examines the benefits and principles of building commissioning, investigates commissioning processes and guidelines, demonstrates how to integrate commissioning with sustainable building practices, and explores the commissioning process from initial project plan to post-occupancy testing. Learners will have the opportunity to examine case studies of commissioning projects on new government, institutional, corporate and manufacturing facilities, as well as existing buildings.

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss industry standard building commissioning processes and guidelines, including those from ASHRAE, National Environmental Balancing Bureau, and the AABC Commissioning Group.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to identify and describe the benefits of the commissioning process, such as increasing the health and safety of the building, optimizing energy efficiency, reducing operating costs, and improved facility operations and management.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify and define the roles and responsibilities of the members of the commissioning team.
