Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Ray Meyer P.E.

Vice President with Paradigm Consultants, Inc.
Mr. Meyer has over 40 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, construction materials engineering and testing, environmental assessments and forensic investigations. His current practice focuses on expansive and soft soils conditions, soil-structure interaction and foundation and paving constructability issues. Mr. Meyer earned his BSCE and MCE degrees from the University of Houston. He is a professional engineer in the states of Texas. Mr. Meyer is an adjunct professor for the College of Engineering Technology, Department of Construction Management at the University of Houston-Main Campus where he instructs courses in Construction Materials Testing and Soils and Foundation Engineering. He is a past president of the University of Houston Engineering Alumni Association, a past president of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ National Deep Foundation Committee, a current director of the Texas Council of Engineering Laboratories-Houston branch, and a member of ASCE National Shallow Foundation Committee.

Course Description: This course examines the characteristics of soils in urban environments and why those characteristics matter to the design professional and buildings. Issues are explored, such as compaction, drainage, and contamination. The course explores how to work with urban soils for pavements and foundation design and construction.

Learners will be able to identify characteristics that are unique to urban soils and why they matter to building construction and building occupants.

Learners will be able to locate reference urban soil data that may influence design and construction decisions.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify and describe issues that are common to urban soils, including compaction, drainage, and contamination.

Learners will be able to describe urban soil conditions that must be taken into account for pavement and foundation construction.
