Webinar Instructions
Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.
Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Continuing Education Credit Information
Each webinar is open to the public and offers 1.5 Accessibility continuing education hours to California architects. The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved each webinar for 1.5 LU|HSW.
Architects seeking continuing education credit in other states will be able to claim the hours earned by completing these webinars. Refer to specific state rules to determine the eligibility of California-specific information contained in these courses.
Each of these webinars will qualify for 1.5 PDHs for engineers licensed in most states. Refer to specific state rules to determine the eligibility of California-specific information contained in these courses.
Each webinar is registered and approved for 1.5 CM credits with the American Institute of Certified Planners. Only full attendance is reportable to the AICP.
Completion certificates will be awarded to participants who complete events, respond to prompts, and earn a passing score (80%) on the quiz that follows the presentation (multiple attempts allowed).

President of Collaborative Access Studio
Employed in the architecture and construction industry since 1988, Mr. Dea is a licensed architect in the states of California and Utah and is an ICC-certified accessibility inspector/plans examiner. Since 2001, his practice has focused on compliance with federal and state accessibility standards, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan services, and accessible design covering buildings, sites, and pedestrian facilities in public rights-of-way. This has encompassed accessibility evaluations, plan reviews, and code analyses for numerous corporate, education, and governmental clients.
Summary of Experience
- Consultant access compliance plan reviewer to California’s Division of the State Architect (DSA) – Los Angeles Basin Region Office (2004-2011)
- One of California’s first certified access specialists (CASp #023), based on experience and testing criteria administered by the DSA (2008)
- Alternate delegate (2014-2021) and primary delegate (2021-current) to the ICC/ANSI Committee on Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities, contributing to creation of the 2017 edition of the ICC A117.1 Accessibility
Standard. The A117.1 Standard is adopted by building code jurisdictions throughout the United States. - Provider of over 50 accessibility training presentations to licensed architects and engineers, attorneys, public agencies, and professional organizations, including a 5-hour course addressing the continuing education
requirement for California architects. - Provider of technical assistance to attorneys and other clients to assist in the resolution of lawsuits, complaints, and claims related to state and federal access laws.

Course Title: Designing Accessible Pedestrian Facilities under ADA Standards and the CBC: Transportation Facilities

Course Description: This course examines ADA and California Building Code accessibility standards for transportation facilities, including those for new constructoipn, alterations, public transportation programs and activities in existing facilities, rail stations, bus stops, bus rapid transit facilities, and platforms.

Learners will be able to apply the appropriate accessibility standards when designing pedestrian routes for transportation facilities.
Learning Objective 2:
When altering existing transportation facilities, learners will be able to improve accessibility of pedestrian routes to the maximum extent practicable.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to determine when alternatives to accessibility requirements provide the equivalent facilitation required under Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to solve accessibility issues that are common at transportation facilities, such as parking accessibility, loading zone accessibility and accessible means of egress.
