Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 7.0 LU|HSW (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES.

The International Code Council has approved this event for .7 CEUs in the specialty area of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).

Completion certificates will be awarded to participants who complete this event, respond to all prompts, and earn a passing score (80%) on the quiz that follows the presentation (multiple attempts allowed).

Principal, Chief Building Plans Examiner at Municipal Code Consulting, LLC
Mr. McWhite is from Indiana and a graduate of Vincennes University. He is an accomplished building inspector and plans examiner, with 20 years of experience in public and non-profit code enforcement and inspections. Mr. McWhite has served as an inspector and plans examiner in Massachusetts, Georgia, Virginia, and Indiana. He has served on the Massachusetts Construction Supervisor Licensing exam rewriting committee to help transition the exam from the 2009 to the 2015 International Codes, as a member of the International Code Council’s IPMC/IZC Code Development Committee, and as member of the ICC Building Membership Council and most recently its Nominating Committee. Mr. McWhite also currently serves as an ICC Governmental voting member representing Region 6. He has earned a combined 21 Certifications from SBCCI (Legacy Code) and ICC including Housing Code Official, Building Code Specialist, Plumbing Code Specialist, Certified Building Official, and is currently 2 certifications away from Master Code Professional.

Course Description: This course examines the adoption of the International Existing Building Code (IEBC) in Massachusetts and which buildings it to, the scope and administration of the Code, provisions for storm shelter, accessibility, CO protections, additions alterations, fire escapes, windows, emergency escape openings, change of occupancy, , additions, historic and moved buildings, and compliance methods.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to describe the IEBC prescriptive compliance method for additions, alterations, fire escapes, windows, emergency escape openings, and change of occupancy for existing buildings.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss compliance standards for the International Residential Code appendix J for repairs, renovations, alterations, reconstruction and repairs

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with IEBC provisions for change of occupancy, including for for special use and occupancy, structural changes, plumbing and classifications, and they will be able to reference and comply with requirements for addition heights and areas, and structural requirements for additions.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss performance compliance standards and methods for historic, moved and relocated buildings.
