This webinar is open to the public and offers 7.0 PDHs to professional engineers and 7.0 HSW CEPHs/continuing education hours to architects and landscape architects in Texas. Educators and courses are not subject to pre-approval in Texas.
This event has been approved by the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System for 7.0 HSW Learning Units (Sponsor No. J885) and the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System for 7.0 HSW PDHs. Only full attendance can be reported to the AIA CES and LA CES.
Engineers, architects and landscape architects seeking continuing education credit in other states will be able to claim the hours earned at this webinar, in most cases. Refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Engineering Services Manager, City of Round Rock
Mr. Carr earned his bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas in 2005. He worked for Pape-Dawson Consulting Engineers designing land development projects until 2009. In 2009 he joined the City of Round Rock as a permit reviewer, reviewing the types of projects he was designing at Pape-Dawson. Mr. Carr continues to work for the City of Round Rock in Planning and Development Services (PDS) as the Engineering Services Manager. He and his team help consulting engineers get their designs permitted and on the ground. Mr. Carr and his team at the City of Round Rock review site and subdivision permit applications that include design of streets/roads, grading, drainage, floodplain delineation, storm drains, detention ponds, water/wastewater, etc. His team and department focus on the timely delivery of comments and communication to applicants that are necessary to get land development permits issued, constructed, and closed out.

Following a six-year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Prete earned his bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas in 1999. His expertise includes design and construction plan preparation for civil works projects such as site developments, streets/roads, drainage facilities, water and wastewater distribution/collection systems, and stormwater detention/quality controls. In addition, his expertise includes hydrology and hydraulic design, and water modeling with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS & WaterCad, respectively. He also prepares feasibility reports, technical reports, proposals, man-hour estimates, project budgets, schedules, and construction cost estimates. Mr. Prete and his team design and permit projects for both the private and public sectors. In addition to site and subdivision design, Mr. Prete also serves as chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission in Elgin, Texas

Course Title: Texas Site Design: Grading and Drainage

Course Description: This course on site design examines fundamental design considerations that site designers must account for when creating grading and drainage plans. Topics include working with existing topography including floodplains, evaluating the site and testing soil, essential elements of a site design plan, ADA and EPA considerations, designs for grading and drainage, site inspection, and a discussion of real-world site design case studies.

Learners will be able to articulate fundamental site design and evaluation considerations, and identify essential site plan and design elements.

Learners will be able to create site plans that protect the health and welfare of the public by complying with EPA regulations and complying with ADA design requirements for site accessibility.

Learners will be able to create drainage and grading plans and designs that take into account existing topography, hydrological flow patterns, regulatory considerations, and assorted site design challenges and pitfalls.
