Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information 
This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers, 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in Texas. 

 Professionals seeking continuing education credits in other states will be able to claim the hours earned from this course, in most cases. Refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Tyler Speakmon, Ph.D.

Senior paving engineer and senior infrastructure engineer at CEMEX

Dr. Speakmon has over 10 years of experience with concrete paving, engineering, design, and research. He has a master’s degree in Civil-Structural Engineering and a doctorate degree in Civil-Materials Engineering from Texas A&M University. He has worked with mix design, structural design, life cycle analyses and many other aspects of concrete paving. Dr. Speakmon serves on the Pavement Design Committee for the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA).

Course Title: Texas Pavement Design, Construction and Maintenance

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This course examines the principles and design of pavements. It covers private roadway and commercial site pavement design for both flexible and rigid pavements. The course also analyzes maintenance, rehabilitation and the sustainability of pavements.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss the principles, goals and terminology of pavement design and identify the appropriate guidelines, standards and data for design.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to understand the role and design of subsurface and soil support in private roadway pavement design.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify the proper mixture content and pavement thickness for both flexible and rigid pavements, as well as any pavement distresses.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to review maintenance and rehabilitation techniques, including reclamation, recycling, overlaying, and preservation.

Learning Objective 5:
Learners will be able to analyze the sustainability of pavements, specifically pervious pavements, and their function and design in parking lots, driveways, sidewalks and more.
