William R. Hayes

Partner in Hayes & Wilson, PLLC in Houston, TX

Mr. Hayes is board certified in Estate Planning and Probate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Founded in 2007, the firm has grown to be one of the recognized small firms focusing on Estate Planning, Probate, Guardianship and Special Needs. Mr. Hayes is a frequent speaker on Estate Planning, Wills, Trusts, Probate, Charitable Gifting, Disability Planning, Elder Law, and Medicaid. In 2004, William received the HBA President’s Award. He has served the Houston Bar Association as co-chair of the Elder Law Committee and as chair of the Fee Dispute Committee. Chris Mazzola

Partner with Patterson Law Group in San Antonio, TX

Mr. Mazzola graduated from the University of Houston in 2006 with a B.S. in Kinesiology with a focus in Sport Administration. While at the University of Houston, He was accepted into the Sales Excellence Institute at the Bauer College of Business and obtained an advanced certificate in Professional Selling. After graduation, he went to work for a major insurance carrier for three years before embarking on law school. In 2012, he obtained a law degree from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. During law school, Mr. Mazzola served as a senator for the Student Bar Association, chair of the Young Alumni-Law Student Chapter, participated in numerous mock trial competitions, and was a member of the External Advocacy Program’s Competition Negotiations team. In addition, Mr. Mazzola was a staff writer on The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Race on Social Justice where his article on how the law often criminalized victims of human trafficking received Credit with Honors. Because of his experience as a staff writer, he worked as a TA in the Legal Research and Writing program.

Lauren E. Melhart

Partner at Kinser & Bates, LLP in Dallas, Texas

Ms. Melhart is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a Council Member for the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section, serves on the board of directors of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, and is a faculty member with the American Bar Association’s Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute. Ms. Melhart has written articles for the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers on a variety family law issues and presented to a number of family law related organizations throughout the country. She is also a part of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization’s Paralegal Commission for Family Law which is responsible for writing and grading the board certification exam for family law paralegals.

Ryan Nordhaus

Mr. Nordhaus is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Practicing law since 2003, Mr. Nordhaus litigates in several courts in the state of Texas, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Western, and Eastern Districts of Texas, and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Nordhaus has co-authored family law articles for and presented to various organizations throughout the state.
