All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers, 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Dr. Mehran Mazari, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at California State University Los Angeles

Dr. Mehran Mazari, is an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Cal State Los Angeles, specializing in transportation infrastructure and pavement materials. He is the program manager of the Sikand Center for Sustainable and Intelligent Infrastructures (SITI-Center) and founder of the Sustainable Infrastructure Materials Research Lab (SIM-Lab) at Cal State LA. His research interests include sustainable and resilient transportation infrastructure and transportation infrastructure materials. He is a member of technical committees at the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Science and Engineering, and he is co-chair of the LTPP subcommittee of the Highway Pavement Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Dr. Mazari has published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. He has been actively involved in several national and state research projects, including the National Highway Cooperative Research Program (NCHRP) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Course Title: Sustainable Construction Materials for Highways and Transportation Infrastructure

Course Description: This 6.5-hour course focuses on the performance and utilization of sustainable construction materials. The course provides tools to evaluate sustainable materials, discusses sustainable design considerations, explores the use of recycled materials, and analyzes sustainability ratings for infrastructure and materials.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to estimate and analyze sustainability performance measures, explain sustainable design criteria, and discuss advances in sustainable design and construction.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to utilize tools to evaluate and perform Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) and identify environmental parameters for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to utilize recycled materials such as concrete aggregates, reclaimed asphalt pavement, asphalt shingles, and industrial byproducts.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to discuss infrastructure and material performance monitoring, evaluation, and sustainable maintenance and rehabilitation.
