All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Marcus E. Woods, PE & LEED AP

Principal, Woods Residential Engineering and Inspection, LLC

After working in engineering and design management with award-winning structural and construction firms for nearly 10 years, Mr. Woods founded his own firm, Woods Residential Engineering & Inspection. Mr. Woods is a licensed professional engineer in multiple states, and he holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering (with a focus on structures) from Washington University in St. Louis. He has earned “Accredited Professional” status from the U.S. Green Building Council. Mr. Woods is a member of: The Woods Educational Enrichment Foundation, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) (Director of Programs for the Chicago professional chapter), the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois.

Course Description: This 7 hour lecture presentation covers wood construction provisions in the International Building Code and wood construction standards of the National Design Specification for Wood Construction, design values, requirements and equations, structural use of sawn lumber and timber, structural glued laminated timber, prefabricated wood I-joists and structural composite lumber, prefabricated wood trusses and wood structural panels, and fire protection design.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to reference design values, requirements, and equations for bending members, compression members, columns, tension members, and combined loads.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to identify and explain the structural applications for prefabricated wood I-joists, structural composite lumber, prefabricated wood trusses and wood structural panels. They will also be able to discuss fire protection design requirements.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with International Building Code provisions for wood construction and standards set by the National Design Specification for Wood Construction.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify and explain the structural applications for sawn lumber and timber and structural glued laminated timber.
