This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers, 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Benjamin T. Dreyer Project Manager, Underwood Engineers
Mr. Dreyer has over 18 years’ experience providing engineering services to municipal clients in New Hampshire and Maine. He leads Underwood Engineer’s stormwater group specializing in Municipal LID and Green Infrastructure projects. Relevant work experience includes incorporating LID into streetscape, roadway, and municipal facility projects. Mr. Dreyer has also worked on small- and large-scale non-point source pollution management plans from the subwatershed level to regional scale.

Course Title: Stormwater Best Management Practices in New England

Course Description: This course identifies and explains stormwater best management practices specific to the New England region, including reducing site disturbance, increasing natural landscaping, managing non-point source pollution, and utilizing permeable pavers, porous pavements, filter strips, drainage swales, detention basins and ponds. Stormwater best management case studies will also be discussed in this course.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to consider site topography, hydrology and soils in order to select, size and design a stormwater management system.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to understand and adopt ecologically-friendly stormwater management practices such as natural landscaping, site disturbance reduction, detention basins, ponds, and more.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to analyze non-point source stormwater controls, calculate pollutant loads, utilize regional non-point source databases and track nutrients.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify and select appropriate native plants for use in landscaping, drainage swales, and ponds.
