All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Ray Wohlfarth is president of Fire & Ice Heating & Cooling in Pittsburgh, PA. He is an international author of eleven books on boilers and a columnist for Plumbing & Mechanical, RSES, PM Engineer, Master Brewers Association, National Board, Green Building Research, and Engineered Systems Magazines. He recently started a YouTube channel, Boiler Room Detective. 

He is currently on the board of directors for WV ASHRAE and WV APPA and is past president of Pittsburgh ASHRAE.  Ray has taught classes for ASHRAE, RSES, Hospital Engineers, NAPE, Operating Engineers, Steamfitters, BOMA, IFMA, and APPA.

Course Title: Steam Heating Systems: Design, Maintenance and Improvement

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This course begins with the history, current codes, standards, and fundamentals of steam heating systems before closely analyzing the components and configurations. Specifically discussed is steam boiler sizing and selection, one-pipe vs. two-pipe systems, condensate, traps and pumps. The course concludes by providing guidance on system maintenance, troubleshooting, and case studies.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to discuss the fundamentals of steam heating systems, including system technology, components and configurations.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to assist in sizing boilers, troubleshooting boiler problems and solving steam heat problems through regular maintenance and troubleshooting.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to define and differentiate between one-pipe and two-pipe systems and analyze near boiler piping.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to handle condensate by utilizing traps and boiler-feed pumps, as well as analyze case studies and “green steam.”
