Course Title: Solar Photovoltaic Covered Parking Facilities

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This course focuses on the benefits of utilizing solar photovoltaic-covered parking facilities and will assist design professionals in communicating these benefits to project owners. Solar-covered parking facilities can play a pivotal role in the fight against climate change while simultaneously providing a high-value amenity to users and economic benefits to the owner.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the land-use case for installing solar over parking facilities; large, empty spaces such as parking lots provide owners with an opportunity to generate on-site electricity for a structure or enable sustainable EV charging for users.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to explain the environmental benefits of solar-covered parking facilities such as reduced fossil fuel consumption and subsequent emissions, clean EV charging capabilities, and fewer pollutants escaping from the pavement.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to explain the incentives to promote and/or require solar-covered parking and the economic benefits for owners when they offer high-value amenities such as EV charging.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explore case studies of solar-covered parking facilities and discuss the wide range of design considerations and benefits for the public.
