Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Wendy Talarico LEED AP

Ms. Talarico is an ICC-certified energy/green code plan reviewer and consults with architects and engineers throughout the Northeast to provide continuing education on a range of subjects from codes to building science. She is an instructor for Urban Green/New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s “Conquering the Code”, an 8-hour energy code class in New York State. Ms. Talarico was a member of the engineering outreach team for the Brick Industry Association, and she is an award-winning journalist with more than 25 years of experience as a writer and editor for such publications as Architectural Record and This Old House. Her areas of expertise include building energy, sustainability issues, and codes, including the IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, IEBC, and the IgCC.

Course Title: Residential Provisions of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)

Course Description: This seven-hour live lecture presentation covers the residential provisions of the IECC, including Code definitions, climate zones, code compliance alternatives, residential energy efficiency, HVAC systems, electrical power ans lighting systems, and requirements for building additions, building alterations, repairs and change of occupancy.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to comply with IECC residential provisions for building envelopes, including those for insulation, fenestration, air-leaking and testing, and fireplaces and fuel-burning appliances.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to comply with IECC residential provisions for HVAC sytems, including those for control systems, duct work insulation, service hot water, and mechanical ventilation.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to comply with IECC residential provisions for electrical power systems and lighting systems.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to comply with IECC residential provisions for building additions, alterations, building repairs and maintenance, and changes of occupancy.

Learning Objective 5:
Learners will be able to discuss residential IECC adoption and enforcement on the state level and be able to discuss Code compliance alternatives.
