All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to offer 6.5 PDHs to professional engineers, 6.5 HSW continuing education hours to licensed architects, and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours to landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Course Title: Pruniversity: The Short Course on Pruning and Training Trees

Course Description: This course is intended to assist design professionals in pruning and training trees in the urban environment. More specifically, the course discusses the science of trees, tree health, and pruning practices to provide a holistic understanding of trees so that design professionals can determine the best care for different types and ages of trees, regardless of their affliction.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss the science, purposes, benefits, strategies, and severity of pruning. Learners will also be able to properly evaluate trees before pruning.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to review tree biology and anatomy to better understand tree form before pruning and reduce the need for pruning through thoughtful urban tree selection, placement, and maintenance.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to understand tree injuries, diseases and pests, and how the tree responds to these threats in order to employ best practices for young trees, healthy trees, and compromised trees.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to determine the best time of year, frequency, tools and equipment for pruning different types and ages of trees.

Learning Objective 5:
Learners will be able to identify the types of cuts, plan and make cuts, and utilize proper post-cut procedures.
