Eric Haggett LEED Green Associate

Director of Planning (Chicago)
Mr. Haggett is a Director of Planning for Walker Consultants and has been in the parking industry for the past 14 years. While based in Chicago, Eric works with public and private sector clients throughout the country, primarily focusing on financial feasibility and market analyses, operations and management consulting, and planning engagements. Mr. Haggett is an active member of the International Parking & Mobility Institute, serving in several volunteer positions over the years. Mr. Haggett received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Economics from Ohio University, is a certified Parksmart Advisor and is a regular instructor for Parksmart Advisor certification classes.

Bradly F. Navarro P.E.

Vice President and the Managing Principal of Walker Consultants (Chicago)
Mr. Navarro has 22 years of experience in parking planning, design, and consulting, and is the Managing Principal of Walker’s Chicago offices. He has consulted on hundreds of parking-related projects, lending his expertise to site selection, engineering, building code analysis, durability design, and facility maintenance and restoration. In addition, he is recognized as a leading parking functional designer in the industry and services as engineer-of-record on select Walker Projects. Mr. Navarro received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa; and is a recipient of the National Parking Association’s 40 Under 40 Award.  

Diego F. Romero PE. SE. PhD

Principal and the Director of Building Envelope, Forensics & Restoration of Walker Consultants (Chicago)
Mr. Romero specializes in concrete durability and structural engineering, more specifically in the investigation, analysis, and repair of distressed structures, including parking structures and building envelopes. He has worked on a wide variety of structures, from evaluation wooden roof trusses of 19th century churches to assessing the condition of 460-foot tall concrete power plant cooling towers. Mr. Romero also leads the development and implementation of the firm’s photogrammetry 3D modeling and unmanned aerial vehicle services for restoration projects and is a member of ACI 364 (Rehabilitation), ACI 440 (Fiber Reinforced Polymer Reinforcement), and ACI 564 (Repair of Concrete). He received his Doctorate degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Miami, and he is a licensed structural engineer in Illinois, and a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and Texas.

Course Title: Parking Structure Design, Construction and Maintenance

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This 6.5 hour live lecture presentation examines parking structure layouts, circulation strategies, and AIA/disability requirements. It also examines structural system components, design, and construction.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify and describe requirements for parking layout, including one-way vs. two-way traffic, turning bay requirements and square footage per space.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to consider requirements for vertical circulation in parking structures, and will be able to meet standards for accessible parking spaces required under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to compare typical construction types for parking structures, including cast-in-place, prestressed precast concrete, and steel construction.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to comply with loading requirements for parking structures, including live loads, snow loads, wind loads and seismic loads, and will be able to utilize lateral force resisting systems in parking structures.
