Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Mr. McConnell’s parking design and consulting experience encompasses more than 20 years of work with airports, governmental agencies, and with military, transit, higher education, resort, healthcare, and corporate clients. He is well-versed in precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, and steel construction. Mr. McConnell’s experience includes numerous restoration, parking study, and programming projects. Several of his projects have received LEED certification, including Colorado State University’s Lake Street parking facility, which received LEED Gold.

Course Title: Parking Structure Design, Construction and Maintenance
Delivery Method: Live Online
Course Description: This course examines the process of determining parking needs, planning the layout, parking circulation and other design considerations. It also examines code compliant structural design for durability, drainage and user security. The course also covers preventative maintenance, restoration and planning for future considerations.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to ascertain functional design considerations, including how many parking spaces are needed, user needs and wants, and the layout and circulation pattern.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to determine functional design considerations for wayfinding and signage, architectural and code considerations, security and lighting, and mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to explain how to design parking structures that can handle drainage runoff from stormwater, ice and snow.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to describe parking structure preventative maintenance requirements and typical restoration practices and procedures.
