All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.
Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information
This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 7.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 7.0 HSW learning hours for licensed architects in Pennsylvania. *Architects licensed in Pennsylvania are not subject to a continuing education requirement.
The Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists does not pre-approve continuing education activities, courses or providers.
The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 7.0 HSW LUs (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES.
The International Code Council has approved this event for .7 CEUs in the specialty area of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).
Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the webinar for those who attend the entire course and score a minimum 80% on the quiz that follows the course (multiple attempts allowed).

Judith Acosta, CZO, BCO
SFM Consulting LLCMs. Acosta began her career in municipal government in 2014 as a clerk for the zoning office in a local municipality. She never imagined a life in building, zoning and code enforcement. But, under the prompting of local officials and the teaching of her mentor, Shawn McGlynn, a career blossomed. In 2019, Ms. Acosta joined SFM Consulting, LLC, as an associate. She is an integral part of the team providing building, zoning and code enforcement services to several municipalities across north-eastern Pennsylvania. She is a certified building code official, certified zoning officer, and certified housing and property maintenance inspector working toward additional certifications through the ICC. Ms. Acosta is a seasoned instructor with PCCA, PMPEI and PSATS.
Shawn McGlynn, BCO, ICC, CZO, PENNBOC, BOABC
SFM Consulting LLCSFM Consulting LLC is a logical result of Mr. McGlynn’s experience in construction and his educational experience in Environmental Studies. He received his B.S. degree in Environmental Studies from Stockton University in 1983. Mr. McGlynn served as co-founder of Renaissance Restoration Inc., a timber frame construction company, from 1987 to 2001. Transitioning into building code enforcement and zoning resulted in the eventual creation of SFM Consulting LLC in 2014. In the interim, He worked for a third-party municipal services provider in Bucks and Montgomery County, honing skills in ordinance/by-law development and adoption, land use regulations, and expert testimony. SFM Consulting provides building code and zoning enforcement services, as well as land use consultation, ordinance development, and expert testimony in Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico and British Columbia. Mr. McGlynn works closely with elected officials and township solicitors to achieve balanced and unbiased outcomes to municipal problems for the communities he serves.

Course Description: This seven-hour course begins with a discussion on the development, adoption, terminology, enforcement and changes of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, before closely analyzing chapters 3-12, 14-16, and 27-29. The course will cover code-compliant fire protection, egress, accessibility, structural design, roofs, HVAC, MEP systems, and more.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss the development of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, explain the code adoption and amendment processes, and explore the recent changes, such as new fire detection and protection provisions, mass timber requirements and more.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to analyze chapters 6-9 of the code and utilize code-compliant life safety systems and fire and smoke protection features.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to examine chapters 10-11 of the code to incorporate accessible facilities, routes, entrances and exits in their designs.

Learners will be able to adopt code-compliant construction techniques and use of specific materials, including concrete, masonry, wood, aluminum, steel and glass.
