Course Title: New York Engineered Lumber Design and Construction
Delivery Method: Live Online
Course Description: This is a 6.5 hour live lecture presentation with the instructors and students together in the same room. It will be conducted in a handicap-accessible conference room with ample seating space and writing surface for all attendees. Bound written materials, authored by the faculty, will be distributed to all participants at the program. Attendance will be monitored and reported to AIA/CES. This course will cover the types, applications, and special considerations for a variety of engineered lumber.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to reference structural engineered lumber design values and adjustments for bending members, compression members, columns, tension members, combined loads, bearing capacity, and flitch beams.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to select the appropriate connectors and fasteners for the engineered lumber products covered in this programs, including nails, lag screws, wood screws, bolts, prefabricated connections.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify various types of engineered lumber products, determine their structural and non-structural properties, and be able to reference applicable national design specifications and building codes.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to determine the applications and design values for structural glued-laminated timber, pre-fabricated wood I-joists, and structural composite lumber and wood structural panels.
