NYS Registered ArchitectMs. Mellor has over 30 years’ experience in building energy conservation. She recently retired from her position as Senior Energy Code Compliance Auditor with the Department of Buildings Bureau of Sustainability. In that capacity, she trained energy code inspectors and auditors, developed references and training materials for the review of energy code-related construction documents and inspection reports, and oversaw the resolution of energy code infractions. Ms. Mellor hopes to pass along the knowledge gained from her experience to construction industry professionals and to the public.

Course Title: New York City Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC) Residential Progress Inspection Requirements

Course Description: This seven-hour course provides an explanation and analysis of the progress inspection requirements for residential buildings under the New York City Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC). The course will explore key duties of TR8 Inspectors, including report preparation, verification of installed systems, and compliance with energy performance requirements. The course focuses heavily on the specific requirements related to insulation, fenestration, air sealing, HVAC systems and electrical systems.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to understand the role of the TR8 Inspector of Record, including supervisory duties, confirming documents are sufficient and verifying drawing represent the built conditions, and certification processes in compliance with RCNY 101-07.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to explain how to conduct residential progress inspections, ensuring compliance with NYCECC by verifying insulation, fenestration, air sealing, and HVAC system installations.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to evaluate and document non-compliant conditions, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and confirmed through photographic documentation and reports.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to utilize testing procedures for determining if air sealing, insulation, duct leakage, and HVAC systems comply with NYCECC requirements.
