Mr. Bernard has been a wealth management advisor with Northwestern Mutual for 39 years. He holds designations as a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Mr. Bernard also holds five investment licenses with the SEC, including the Series 7. At Northwestern Mutual he has the title of Estate and Business Planning Specialist. He has a financial planning practice as well as an insurance and investment practice. Mr. Bernard and his team have over $220,000,000 of assets under management and he is a member of the MDRT Court of the Table. He has spoken on various financial educational topics throughout his career.

Mirella "Millie" Garcia

Mutual of Omaha
Ms. Garcia is a native El Pasoan. She graduated from UTEP in 1992 with a degree in Finance and Commercial Banking. She later went on to obtain her MBA from UTEP graduating in 1998. Ms. Garcia has over 12 years’ experience in the reverse mortgage industry. Prior to working in the mortgage field, she worked for 17 years in the insurance and financial industry. She initially became interested in the reverse mortgage product in order to help her parents. Since then, she has worked closely with seniors and their families, as well as financial planners, realtors and attorneys. Ms. Garcia is the former President of the El Paso Mortgage Bankers Association. She has also served on the Board for the El Paso Estate Planning Council and has been involved with various organizations throughout her career.

Margaret "Peggy" Graham

Partner, Pregenzer, Baysinger, Wideman & Sale (“PBWS”), New Mexico
Ms. Graham has focused her practice on elder law, secifically in representing individuals and families in the appointment of guardians and conservators for the elderly or disabled as both the petitioning attorney and Guardian ad Litem, estate planning, probate, and fiduciary litigation. She has tried cases in both state and federal court, and has represented clients before administrative bodies. Ms. Graham is a frequent speaker on Medicaid planning, special needs planning, guardianships and conservatorships, and special education. She has a unique perspective on the representation of families who have members with developmental disabilities and special needs as she is the mother of a special needs child.

Steve Margulin

Mr. Margulin is a well-known financial advisor and life coach in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has made a lifelong commitment to learning and has earned five professional designations.  Ms. Oriola is a licensed clinical social worker, a certified care manager, a National Master Guardian and since 1989, a Certified Financial Planner®. She spent a decade as an independent financial advisor before obtaining a master’s in social work. Since 2001, she had founded and continues to operate two age-related companies with a team of licensed and certified professionals. Ms. Oriola has taught gerontology classes at the master’s level, presented often on age related topics at conferences and has served as an officer and member of several boards. She is past-president of the New Mexico Estate Planning Council and the New Mexico Guardianship Association. Ms. Oriola is also a member of the Aging Life Care Association™ and the National Guardianship Association.

Russell A. Willis III J.D. LL.M.

Mr. Willis is a tax lawyer, freelance writer, and consultant and advisor to lawyers, on issues related to wealth transfers. He has written numerous articles for publications serving tax and charitable gift planning professionals, and he is a frequent conference and seminar speaker throughout the country.

Three years ago, he launched a newsletter, the Jack Straw Fortnightly, analyzing current developments in the law – both tax and nontax – concerning the transfer of private wealth in this country.

Mr. Willis chaired the Steering Committee of the Probate and Trust Law Section of his local bar association and served on a legislative drafting subcommittee for the Probate and Trust Law Committee of the State Bar. He has also written numerous articles for law journals and publications.

Mr. Willis has a law degree from St. Louis University and a master’s degree in Taxation Law from Washington University in St. Louis. His undergraduate degree in English Literature is from Indiana University, Bloomington, and he has a master’s degree in English from the University of Chicago.
