Dr. Laura “LC” Craig is an aquatic ecologist and restoration practitioner with more than ten years
of experience working in river conservation both as the chief scientist at a national environmental
nonprofit and as a restoration practitioner. She is a big picture thinker with extensive experience
in science communication, strategic planning, metrics and evaluation, project and budget
management, policy, fundraising, and public engagement. Her specific areas of scientific expertise
are aquatic ecology, river restoration theory and practice (especially dam removal), nutrient
dynamics, and climate adaptation. Dr. Craig also has a keen interest in improving how we manage
existing and emerging threats to rivers. She earned a B.S. degree in Biology from Susquehanna
University and a PhD degree in Aquatic Ecology from University of Maryland-College Park.
Dr. Clay H. Emerson PHD
Dr. Clay H. Emerson, PHD, PE, CFM Princeton Hydro LLC, New Jersey
Dr. Emerson’s areas of expertise include hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, stormwater
management and infiltration, non-point source pollution, watershed modeling, groundwater
hydrology/modeling, and water quality and quantity monitoring at both the individual site and
watershed scales. His academic and professional experience includes a substantial amount of
critical overlap between the engineering and environmental science/ecology disciplines which is
central to many of the innovative projects at Princeton Hydro. He is a Practice Area Lead at Princeton Hydro and has specific expertise in the field of stormwater infiltration and has conducted extensive research on the performance of stormwater systems. Dr. Emerson routinely gives presentations and continuing education seminars on topics related to stormwater management and is also an adjunct professor.
Brian Friedlich
KleinfelderMr. Friedlich has nearly ten years of private consulting experience in civil and environmental engineering disciplines. His expertise includes water resources, stormwater management, environmental permitting, stream restoration and wastewater treatment. He has worked on many residential, commercial and municipal projects that incorporate state-of-the-art stormwater facilities, such as bioretention facilities, constructed wetlands, wet ponds, infiltration basins, porous pavement, and vegetated filter strips. These designs often utilize distributed natural treatment processes that can be incorporated into an overall low-impact development (LID) site design. Mr. Friedlich has also developed and implemented watershed restoration plans that have received funding through the federal 319(h) program. The watershed restoration plans utilize both stormwater management and in-stream restoration techniques to improve the water quality of downstream surface waters. Mr. Friedlich is a professional engineer in the State of New Jersey, as well as a LEED Green Associate; he earned his B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering from Tufts University and his M.Eng. degree in Environmental Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Friedlich is currently a project manager at Kleinfelder.
