All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Robert Stroble

Assistant Director of Inspection for the City of Livonia, MI

Mr. Stroble is the assistant director of inspection for the City of Livonia and he has over two decades of experience in the building industry. He started as a licensed residential builder in 2001 and founded his own rough framing company in 2003. His business grew to four framing crews and 24 employees – framing over 150 homes for companies such as Centex and Pulte. In 2005, he ventured into custom home building-designing, and building a home that was featured in the opening scene of Scream 4. He transitioned to the role of building inspector with the City of Livonia, where he oversaw large projects such as hotels, Amazon’s 1,000,000 sqft industrial complex, and new housing subdivisions. He was promoted to senior building inspector and is currently responsible for overseeing the Inspection and Ordinance department, managing all divisions within the mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and ordinance departments.

Course Description: This 6.5-hour course explains the residential code development and enforcement in Michigan and how to meet specific code requirements of the Michigan Residential Code. The course focuses on building code requirements for building planning, foundations, floors, shell construction and energy efficiency.

Learners will be able to discuss code requirements for building planning, such as fire resistance, flood resistance, means of egress, and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to meet code requirements for foundations and floors, including footings, anchoring, drainage, water proofing, wood floor framing, steel and concrete floors.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify and satisfy code requirements for shell construction, including those affecting windows, doors, roof assemblies, walls (wood and masonry), fireplace and chimneys.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to design an efficient thermal envelope and perform energy calculations and blower door tests.
