Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 2.0 PDHs for professional engineers, 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Daniel Messmer, P.E., D. GE

The Gateway Engineers INC

Mr. Messmer has over 30 years of engineering experience in analysis, design, plan/specification development, and project management/personnel supervision for geotechnical, foundation and structural engineering projects in the transportation, industrial, municipal and commercial fields of civil engineering. Throughout his career he has placed an emphasis on quality control and staff training. Mr. Messmer is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Concrete Institute, the American Society of Highway Engineers and the Society of American Military Engineers. He earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Messmer was accepted into the Academy of Geo-Professionals in 2013.

Course Title: Limiting Disturbance of Natural Areas on Construction Sites

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This 2-hour course provides design professionals with an understanding of the negative impacts of disturbance to natural areas and strategies to limit these disturbances. The course includes discussion on the placement of buildings, roads and other construction, methods of demolition, waste handling and erosion control, and various codes, standards and certifications.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to define the consequences of site disturbance and the benefits of limiting disturbances on construction sites and reference applicable codes, standards and certificates.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to discuss the locating of proposed building footprints, utilities, access roads, parking and sidewalks in a way that limits disturbance.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to consider methods of equipment access, storage, material delivery and waste handling that limits disturbance.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to create limits of disturbance and examine strategies for demolition/deconstruction, drainage and erosion control.
