Course Title: Lightweight Cellular Concrete for Geotechnical Applications

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This three-hour course explores the properties, use, and geotechnical applications of lightweight cellular concrete (LCC). Lightweight cellular concrete has a lower density than traditional concrete, granting it advantages in reducing earth pressures and settlement and absorbing seismic forces.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the differences between cellular concrete and flowable fill, identify their benefits and determine appropriate applications.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to utilize the proper materials, properties and mixture design, and discuss design considerations, when using LCC for lightweight fills.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to explore the field installation process of LCC, including planning, production, placement and qualify control.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to analyze case studies of LCC being used in geotechnical applications with an emphasis on sustainability.

LUs: 3.0                                                                                              LU Type: LU|HSWs.

Prerequisites: Experience with structural design

Advance Preparation: None

Program Level: Intermediate

Course Expiration Date: 10/02/2027
