This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 7.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Vincent F. Fratinardo, P.E. S.E. RRC
Civil/Structural Engineer and Roof ConsultantMr. Fratinardo is a civil/structural engineer and roof consultant. His over 20 years of experience includes civil and structural engineering analysis, design, construction administration, field investigation, and project management, and 13 years of experience specific to forensic engineering and the investigation and analysis of building damage and failures. Mr. Fratinardo has designed numerous new buildings, building additions, building renovations, and mechanical platforms and supports. He has designed and analyzed roof, wall and floor framing systems utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, and wood construction. Mr. Fratinardo has vast expertise in commercial, industrial, agricultural, municipal, educational and residential building damage investigations, including on-site investigations after 25 different tornado events, and Hurricanes Irene, Sandy, Matthew, Harvey, Irma, Maria and Florence. He has legal experience in depositions, arbitration hearings and trials. He has prepared and performed numerous continuing education presentations, including on an array of topics in forensic engineering, structural engineering and building codes for HalfMoon Education Inc., in multiple states since 2014. Mr. Fratinardo graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering, and he also holds a master of engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is a registered professional engineer in multiple states and a licensed structural engineer in Illinois.

Course Title: International Residential Code 2021

Course Description: This seven-hour course closely examines and explains the provisions and regulations of the 2021 International Residential Code. The courses focuses on the development and enforcement of the code, building planning, shell construction, energy efficiency, and mechanical, fuel, plumbing and electrical systems.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss the development, adoption, and enforcement of the 2021 International Residential Code and gain familiarity with the 2021 changes, including changes to decks, DWV systems, roofs, dwelling separations, egress and footings.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to utilize chapters 2-10 of the 2021 International Residential Code as a guide for building planning and shell construction. Topics include live loads, seismic provisions, ceiling heights, garages, ingress and egress stairways, fire detection, wood products, roof assemblies, framing, foundations, and much more.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to utilize chapter 11 of the 2021 International Residential Code to increase energy efficiency by giving special consideration to climate classifications, thermal envelopes, insulation, fenestration, and lighting.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and the National Electrical Code (NEC) for information guiding the design and construction of mechanical, fuel, plumbing and electrical systems. Topics include fuel gas system and appliances, plumbing fixtures, drains, backflow preventers, overcurrent devices, electrical outlets, pools, hot tubs, and much more.
