Course Title: Introduction to HEC-RAS Modeling
Delivery Method: Live Online
Course Description: This seven-hour live lecture presentation examines open channel hydraulics for analyzing the flow of water through natural rivers and other channels. and how modeling can be used in the design of bridges and culverts, to forecast the encroachment of rivers and wetlands on development sites, and to model stormwater drainage.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss the principles of open channel hydraulics, including the conservation of momentum, conservation of energy, Bernoulli’s Equation.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to model bridges and culverts in HEC-RAS using expansion and contraction coefficients and stead flow simulations, and they will be able to view and interpret the model results.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able create a typical HEC-RAS culvert model using steady flow simulation, and they will be able to view and interpret the results.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able create a typical HEC-RAS river/wetland/floodplain encroachment model and be able to view and interpret the results.
