Course Title: Introduction to Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV)

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This three-hour course introduces Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) and examines how photovoltaic systems can be incorporated directly into building elements such as roofs, façades, glazing, and shading devices. The course explores design considerations that influence performance, appropriate applications for new construction and retrofit projects, and case studies that highlight lessons learned and common implementation challenges.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to identify common BIPV system types and distinguish between building-integrated and conventional photovoltaic installations.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to evaluate building elements and project conditions to determine where integration is appropriate or should be avoided.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to analyze design factors such as orientation, tilt, shading, and façade conditions that influence photovoltaic performance and durability.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to assess case study outcomes to recognize best practices, coordination challenges, and common pitfalls associated with BIPV implementation.
