Owner of Lile Engineering in Ashland, MO
Mr. Lile is the owner of Lile Engineering, which specializes in commercial energy solutions and LEED certification consulting. Mr. Lile has worked in the design industry for over 30 years, on healthcare, industrial, commercial and educational construction projects. He has been involved in electrical and mechanical design, as well as construction management and commissioning. He has volunteered for local city boards and commissions, including the City of Columbia Energy and Environment Commission, which he chaired from 2009 – 2015, helping the City review and adopt new building codes. Mr. Lile is a licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri.

Course Description: This course is a building experience, in which learners create a simple building at the beginning and perform code compliance exercises throughout the course. They will learn compliance in building planning, fire resistance, shell construction, and energy efficiency.

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to comply with International Residential Code 2021 (IRC) requirements for building planning and Table R301.2(1) Climate and Geographical Design Data.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to comply with IRC provisions for fire resistance, including light, ventilation, room sizes, ceiling heights, egress, windows, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and residential accessibility.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to comply with IRC provisions for shell construction, including foundations, floors and walls, wall bracing, and roof framing.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to comply with IRC provisions for energy efficiency and builkding systems, including R and U factors, weather resistive barriers, air barriers, vapor retarders, insulation, fenestration, mechanical, exhaust and ventilation, venting/ducting, water heaters, plumbing tests, and electrical.
