All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited. 

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation-Division of Professional Regulation does not pre-approve continuing education courses for architects or engineers. The Division recognizes the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as an acceptable provider.

The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 6.0 HSW LUs (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES.

The International Code Council has approved this event for .6 CEUs in the specialty area of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).

Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the webinar for those who attend the entire course and score a minimum 80% on the quiz that follows the course (multiple attempts allowed).

Building Inspector for SAFEbuilt, Inc.

Mr. Iliff has been a certified building official for 10+ years serving communities in Texas, Illinois, and Missouri. He has taught classes on the residential, building, and property maintenance codes with a focus on preparing students for certification exams and effective administration. Mr. Iliff has 30+ years of experience as a city planner, floodplain manager, and code enforcement officer. He earned an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning and Development from Ball State University.

Course Title: Illinois Building Code Update

Delivery Method: Live Online 

Course Description: This six-hour course provides a comprehensive update on Illinois building code requirements following the enactment of Public Act 103-0510, which took effect on January 1, 2025. The course will examine required building, fire, life safety, electrical, plumbing, accessibility, and energy conservation codes, as well as new compliance and reporting obligations for local jurisdictions. The course also explores requirements for municipalities and counties without adopted codes, as well as best practices for local adoption and enforcement before the June 30, 2025, compliance deadline.

Learning Objectives: 

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to analyze Illinois Public Act 103-0510 and identify allowable building codes under Illinois law as well as local adoption and reporting requirements.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to identify applicable state-mandated fire protection and life safety codes as well as codes for special occupancies.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to identify allowable electrical codes in Illinois and comply with accessibility and plumbing requirements.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to explore energy conservation codes and requirements for single-family and multi-family housing found in the Illinois Residential Stretch Energy Code.
