For the past 3 years he has been an HVAC technician instructor tasked with training installation and service technicians in all aspects of the HVAC industry. Mr. Watson is a certified technician for Lennox, Bosch, Viessemann, Well-Mclain, Grundfos, Taco, Crown/Velocity, and Navien.

Course Title:  Hydronic and Radiant Heating Systems for Residential and Light Commercial Buildings

Course Description: This six-hour course explores the fundamentals, functions, and applications of hydronic and radiant heating systems for residential and light commercial buildings. The course will focus on various system types and components, their design, the electrification of these systems to reduce carbon emissions, and the proper installation, operation and maintenance techniques.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the operation and control of radiant heating systems and identify the various safety devices, sensors and switches.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to describe the sequence of operation for boilers and discuss their energy usage and system applications for comfort heating and domestic hot water.

Learners will be able to explore the advancements in electrification of heating and cooling functions aimed at reducing carbon emissions, including technological hurdles and industry motivations.

Learners will be able to analyze the design of radiant heating systems, including conducting heat load calculations, selecting appropriate boiler sizes, and optimizing system efficiency through zoning and distribution design.
