Kevin Kalajan

Chief Technology Officer, VuSpex

Mr. Kalajan is the Chief Technology Officer of VuSpex, the first provider of an app for virtual inspections in 2012. Mr. Kalajan is the author of 13 issued patents in the areas of mobile imaging, video streaming, network security and transaction processing. Prior to his role at VuSpex, Mr. Kalajan was a Principal Software Engineer at McGraw-Hill Education and Director at Engrade (acquired by McGraw-Hill Education). In earlier roles he was Director at Candi Controls (IoT), CTO of i-Planet, Inc. (acquired by Sun Microsystems) and was CTO of Market Development for Sun Microsystems. Mr. Kalajan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Columbia University with department honors cum laude.

Course Title: How to Use Remote Virtual Building Inspections

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This three-hour course explains what a remote virtual building inspection is, how they are conducted, which types of inspections they can be used for, the specific software and technology, as well as troubleshooting, best practices, and potential legal issues.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to define what a virtual inspection is, discuss which inspection types are good or bad for virtual inspections, and review virtual inspection recommendations from the NFPA and ICC.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to differentiate between integrated and standalone virtual inspection systems, adopt industry-standard best practices, and explore the legal issues related to virtual inspections.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify and troubleshoot live inspection issues such as faulty audio, screensharing, and GPS. Learners will also discuss privacy concerns related to recorded video and snapshots.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to review and adopt guide sheets/checklists during inspections, safely and securely store data, and implement security measures.
