Course Title: How to Identify and Mitigate Moisture Intrusion in Structures: Case Studies

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This course examines case studies of structures damaged by water intrusion. The four case studies focus on why moisture intrusion occurs in structures, common locations where moisture intrusion occurs, the damages to structures, and mitigation strategies.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify the design errors, construction defects and deferred maintenance that lead to moisture intrusions.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to evaluate site preparations, initial construction layout, and common areas in the building envelope to locate the common locations where moisture intrusion occurs.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to analyze the degradation of building materials and air quality caused by mold to understand the damage that moisture can inflict on a building.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to review historic structures and proper mitigation strategies to prevent or reduce the damage done by moisture intrusions.
