All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Associate Professor at Texas State University

Dr. Peter B. Dedek, is an associate professor at Texas State University in the Department of History. He teaches courses in historic preservation, and the history of architecture and interior design. He recently authored The Cemeteries of New Orleans: A Cultural History, (State University of Louisiana Press 2017). He has written two other titles, Historic Preservation for Designers (Fairchild Books, 2014) and Hip to the Trip: a Cultural History of Route 66, (University of New Mexico Press, 2007).

Course Description: This course explores the fundamentals of preserving historical buildings from how a building is determined to being historic, the federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentive, key issues in historically sensitive building restoration, and how to include green building elements into a historical building and make it accessible.

Learners will be able to explain the criteria for determining how a building is designated as “historic”, and they will be able to discuss restoration incentives available through the Federal Historic Preservation Tax credit.

Learners will be able to describe the fundamentals of historically sensitive building restorations.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to explain how historical building restoration can achieved with increasing its accessibility.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explain how “green” elements can be included in historic preservation projects.
