This webinar is open to the public and offers 6.5 PDHs to professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours to licensed architects in all states.

Course Title: Hawaii State Building Code: 2018 International Building Code with Amendments

Course Description: This 6.5-hour course closely examines the Hawaii State Building Code (2018 International Building Code with amendments) chapter by chapter, and highlights important information that design professionals need to know.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to utilize chapters 3-5 to classify structures, define the different occupancy groups, consider special uses, and determine building heights and areas.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to utilize chapters 6, 7, and 9 to define the types of construction, select and install proper fire protection systems, and discuss other life safety systems.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to utilize chapters 10 and 11 to ensure that exits, exit access, and accessible routes, entrances and facilities are properly designed and in compliance.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to utilize chapters 14-16 for guidance on exterior walls, roofs and roofing systems, and structural design.

Learning Objective 5:
Learners will be able to utilize chapters 8 and 12 for information on interior construction, including interior finishes, ventilation, HVAC controls, lighting, sound, bathrooms, gypsum board and plaster.

Learning Objective 6:
Learners will be able to discuss the use of construction techniques and specific materials, including concrete, masonry, wood, aluminum, steel, and glass.
