All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.
Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 3.0 PDHs for professional engineers, 3.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 3.0 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Archaeologist & Interim Director of Historical Resources History NebraskaMr. Williams directs the State Archeology Office, oversees Nebraska’s archeological resources under the Nebraska Archeological Resources Preservation Act, and National Historic Preservation Act. He assists with the identification, recovery, and repatriation of human skeletal remains and consultation with Native American tribes, supervises cultural resource management projects, and disseminates archeological information to the public. Mr. Williams’s cultural resource management experience includes work across the Great Plains, Midwest U.S., Great Basin, Colorado Rockies, and in Oaxaca, Mexico. Prior to joining History Nebraska, he was the Assistant State Archeologist and Contracts Manager for the South Dakota State Historical Society. Mr. Williams’s research interests include public archeology, geochemical sourcing analysis, long-distance exchange of materials, and precontract ceramic production. He received a B.A. degree in Anthropology from the University of South Dakota and an M.A. degree in Anthropology from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Course Description: This three-hour course explains to design professionals the importance of archaeological sites, reviews applicable federal and state laws regarding these sites, provides guidance to design professionals on how to identify them early in the process and how to work on these sites with the ultimate goal of preserving archaeological sites and artifacts.

Learners will be able to reference the laws and regulations protecting archaeological sites, including the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the Antiquities Act of 1906, the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and the Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979.

Learners will be able to review strategies and techniques to identify archaeological sites early in the process which can avoid damages and scheduling issues.

Learners will be able to discuss the appropriate practices and conduct for working on an archaeological site and review the cost and funding issues.
