All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 2.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Course Description: This course examines volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including their history, sources, effects and alternatives. Topics include a history of VOCs, regulations and restrictions, and a primer on common VOCs in the built environment, such as paints, varnishes, flooring and more.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to provide a definition of volatile organic compounds and explain how and why they are used in paint, varnishes, caulks and other building materials.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to discuss and reference current regulations and restrictions on VOCs.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to describe which building materials are most typically associated with VOCs and explain their effects on building users.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify VOC-free alternatives materials when specifying paint, varnishes and finishes, flooring, carpet, particleboard, furniture and other materials.
