About the webinar:
Learn how to obtain a HERS index score, what it reveals about the energy efficiency of a
building, how various design decisions can impact the score and how a HERS rating can be
used as a foundation for other energy-efficiency rating and certification programs.

 

 Webinar Instructions

All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Instructions and login information will be provided in an email sent close to the date of the webinar. It is highly recommended that you download, install and test the application before the webinar begins by clicking on the link in the email.

Jason LaFleur Sr.

Program Manager, GTI Energy
Mr. LaFleur joined GTI in 2017 as a program manager for the Emerging Technologies team, and manages emerging technology programs, working with clients such as the Department of Energy’s Building America program and the Department of Defense to improve energy efficiency and create resilient energy systems and infrastructure. Prior to joining GTI, he founded Eco Achievers, a nationally-active zero energy consulting firm. He has extensive experience working with emerging technologies in the building sector, helping project teams through design, construction and delivery of several zero energy buildings and dozens of high-performance single- and multi-family buildings. He has certified hundreds of homes to LEED, ENERGY STAR, and Passive House standards. Mr. LaFleur is a voting member of ASHRAE 227 Passive Building Standard.

Course Description: This two-hour course will cover the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index, including an overview of energy ratings and why homes need them, how to obtain and use HERS index scores, implications for design professionals, and how HERS can be used as a foundation for other energy-efficiency rating and certification programs.
