Troy Bishop, P.E., G.C.

Mr. Bishop is a multi-state licensed structural engineer and a Florida General Contractor with extensive experience in the evaluation and design of wood, aluminum, steel, masonry, concrete, and light gage steel structures. His career focus is on structural consulting for code compliance during hurricane events. Mr. Bishop is skilled in evaluation and rehabilitation of existing buildings, and the evaluation of damage to structures from natural disasters and from man-made causes. He has thirteen years of experience with high-volume specialty structural engineering for architects, contractors, product manufacturers and their distributors, and the public; demonstrating consistent record of increasing gross revenue, professional abilities, and departmental productivity throughout tenure. Mr. Bishop’s strengths include extensive field experience, product evaluations, structural design with focus on components, code requirements of glazing, canopy, and life-safety structures, value and reverse engineering, design of anchorage systems, conflict detection, personnel management and project budgeting.

Brian Johnson

Mr. Johnson oversees both our national and international sales programs to ensure a seamless client interaction from early design to finished product delivery. By utilizing the project specific criteria, he works with architects, engineers, & developers to provide one of a kind oversized impact window solution for both commercial and high-end residential projects. Mr. Johnson is also an educator for architects, engineers, developers, property managers, and building code officials. He has worked with the AIA to develop an approved course that carries 1 Health, Safety, & Welfare credit as an accepted continuing education course for the public. As a result, lunch and learn presentations are a frequent part of his agenda. Mr. Johnson is also a Certified Floodplain Manager by the ASFPM. Course Description: This course explores what design professionals need to know when designing residential structures to withstand wind loads and flood waters in Florida.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify and describe various types of weather loads – including wind, precipitation and flood loads – and explain how they can effect structures.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to comply with ASCE 7-16 design provisions on wind loads for residential and commercial buildings, low-rise buildings, open buildings, and building appurtenances.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to utilize different kinds of floodproofing, including dry and wet floodproofing, and consider all of the different forces that water can exert on structures.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify the ways in which building design and compliance have an effect on flood insurance rates and what mitigation solutions are available for both residential and non-residential structures.
