Chris Evers
Technical representative with Pavement Technology Inc.Mr. Evers joined Pavement Technology Inc. in 2012. He also serves as the executive coordinator of the Florida Pavement Preservation Council (FPPC). Mr. Evers has 29 years of experience in the heavy highway construction industry. He has been involved in all facets of the asphalt industry from binder supplier to contractor – consultant to association leader. Mr. Evers is the past-president of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Florida Chapter where he founded the Public Works Director Roundtable. As an active educator for the public works industry, he has spoken at 54 conferences, is the author of 32 magazine articles on Public Works and Pavement Preservation and produced over 40 hours of recorded webinars through Florida LTAP and FPPC. APWA National bestowed him with their highest honor, Top Ten Public Works Leader of 2023. Mr. Evers is married with 16-year-old twins and lives in Vero Beach, FL.

Course Description: This seven-hour course identifies key stressors affecting Florida’s pavements and roadways and provides design and construction techniques that maximize resiliency and preservation in the face of these challenges. Specifically, the course focuses on increased temperatures, storm severity, and traffic loads. The course also explains the role and use of pavement management systems and explores emerging technologies.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to identify key stressors affecting Florida’s pavements and roadways, including extreme temperatures, hurricanes, sea-level rise, and increased traffic loads.
Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to evaluate pavement preservation techniques, such as crack sealing, microsurfacing, and in-place recycling.
Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to discuss the proper use of pavement management systems (PMS) and how they inform decision-making in building more sustainable networks.
Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to examine design strategies and new technologies for mitigating the effects of hurricanes and flooding on roadways.
