All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar offers 6.0 PDHs to professional engineers and 6.0 HSW continuing education hours to architects in all states. It offers 4.0 HSW continuing education
hours to landscape architects licensed in all states, except Florida, New Jersey, or
North Carolina.

Speakers

Jerry McAdams

Senior Captain and NFPA-Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist (CWMS) with the Boise Fire Department in Boise, Idaho.
Mr. McAdams has over 20 years of experience working in the fire service, in both operations, prevention, and wildfire. Mr. McAdams has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the International Association of Wildland Fire (IAWF) and on the Editorial Board for Wildfire Magazine, is an experienced fire investigator who holds International Code Council (ICC) certifications as a Fire Inspector I, II and Fire Plans Examiner. He has been a guest speaker/panelist for several webinars, as well as presenting at numerous national and international conferences. Mr. McAdams started MC Fire, LLC, in 2017 to provide professional consulting services – primarily writing WUI Code and Wildfire Safety Plans for AHJ’s, developers and campuses, as well as providing training and instruction for wildfire mitigation, fire investigation and code compliance. He instructs courses about structural ignition vulnerabilities and creating fire adapted communities. Mr. McAdams graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boise State University.

Brett Van Paepeghem

Southern Idaho Project Manager – Idaho Firewise
Brett Van Paepeghem is a 4th-generation Idaho native. He holds an AAS degree in Horticulture and BAS degree in Biology with specialization in Botany and Ecology from Boise State University. Mr. Van Paepeghem has worked for the US Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. In June of 2014 he joined Idaho Firewise as the Southern Idaho Project Manager where he manages the Idaho Firewise Garden and has collaborated with various agencies on the development of several Firewise Demo Landscapes throughout Idaho.

Course Title: Fire-Resistant Landscapes and Construction

Course Description: This course examines fire science, site planning of structures and landscapes for fire prevention, fire-resistant landscapes, land use planning, fire-resistant building component, designing fire-resistance in new buildings and retrofitting existing buildings, adhering to fire codes, and the causes and consequences of wildfires.
