Course Title: Estimating the Cost of Sitework

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This 6.5 hour live lecture presentation examines basic estimating principles, earthwork analysis, factors that impact the estimate of utilities, calculation of earth spoils, developing unit costs, estimating erosion control, and proper conversions.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to apply basic estimating principles to estimating labor, materials and equipment for site work, improving the accuracy and reliability of site work estimates for project owners.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to take into consideration the factors that impact the estimate of utility expenses. The learner will be able to reference required underground depth of utilities and pipe volume to avoid later cost increases due to necessary adjustments.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to accurately calculate the amount of earth spoils, and make responsible and cost-effective plans for hauling and/or reusing spoils.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to determine compliance responsibility for erosion control management on sites and be able include the cost of erosion control in estimates so the site is not prone to erosion and associated environmental effects.

LUs: 6.5                                                                                              LU Type: LU|HSWs.

Prerequisites: Experience with site development

Advance Preparation: None

Program Level: Intermediate

Course Expiration Date: 10/21/2025
