All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Instructions and login information will be provided in an email sent close to the date of the webinar. It is highly recommended that you download, install and test the application before the webinar begins by clicking on the link in the email.

Continuing Education Credit Information

These webinars are open to the public and are designed to qualify for 3.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 3.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Daniel Messmer, P.E., D. GE

The Gateway Engineers INC

Mr. Messmer has over 30 years of engineering experience in analysis, design, plan/specification development, and project management/personnel supervision for geotechnical, foundation and structural engineering projects in the transportation, industrial, municipal and commercial fields of civil engineering. Throughout his career he has placed an emphasis on quality control and staff training. Mr. Messmer is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Concrete Institute, the American Society of Highway Engineers and the Society of American Military Engineers. He earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Messmer was accepted into the Academy of Geo-Professionals in 2013.

Course Title: Designing and Constructing Slab-on-Grade Foundations

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This three-hour course focuses on the design and construction of slab-on-grade foundations. The course begins by defining slab-on-grade foundations and their applications before discussing the roles of soil, site topography and site preparation. Then, the course focuses on slab design, reinforcement, foundation insulation, connections and options. Case studies will be analyzed to conclude the course.

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to define slab-on-grade foundations, identify their applications and understand their limitations.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to discuss how site topography and soils affect slab-on-grade foundations, and engage in site preparation.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to analyze slab design, reinforcement, and incorporate foundation insulation.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to discuss the connections, options and details related to slab-on-grade design and examine pertinent case studies.
