All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and offers 6.5 PDHs to professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours to licensed architects in all states.

Cody Farmer

MainStream Corporation
Before there was green building for Cody Farmer, there was vision of the American dream and the freedom to work with and build with family and friends. Co-founding MainStream Corporation in September 2007, the door opened to that dream. Building some of the nation’s tightest and best known Passive Houses, MainStream has since become a local go-to Passive House and performance building boutique with laser-like focus on the deployment of integrated design results, advanced building envelopes, air tight detailing, ventilation and indoor air quality, energy modeling and contractor training. With roots in real estate investing, he has successfully brought Passive House principles to tiny homes, “McMansions,” Mighty Arrow Passive House, Gilcrest Library, Pelican Lake Ranch maintenance building, City of Lafayette building, City of Fort Collins, Passivista, Traveler’s Rest and many custom “McPassive Houses,” “Almosta” Passive Houses, and the pinnacle passive solar houses. A business marketing graduate of the University of Northern Colorado’s Monfort College of Business 2001, he spent several years prior serving as the director of marketing for a high-tech R&D firm helping bring new government-funded projects into the marketplace. In 2007 he served as a member of Colorado’s Air Force National Guard unit at Greeley’s 137th Space Warning Squadron working with remote living conditions. He then obtained an M.S. degree in Construction Management and Sustainable Building at Colorado State University 2011.

Heather Holdridge, EIT

Associate AIA LEED Fellow, Associate Partner, Sustainability Director

Ms. Holdridge, LEED Fellow, EIT, Associate AIA is the Sustainability Director at Lake|Flato Architects. Leveraging her background in mechanical engineering, she directs all Lake|Flato teams in establishing sustainability goals. Ms. Holdridge devises strategies and systems to realize those goals under programs such as LEED, the 2030 Challenge, and the Living Building Challenge. She works closely with teams to evaluate passive systems and performs energy modeling throughout the design process. Ms. Holdridge received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Course Title: Designing and Constructing a Net-Zero Energy Home

Course Description: This course will assist design professionals in designing and constructing a net-zero energy home. The course begins by establishing foundational knowledge relating to residential energy requirements: ANSI/ASHRAE/IES 90.1, residential provisions of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), Zero Code and stretch codes. Then the course discusses how to work with the client, analyzing the proposed site, and establishing preliminary plans before diving deep into the workshop portion of the course. Various workshops include designing heating and cooling systems, electrical, power, lighting and renewable energy systems, designing an energy-efficient envelope, and choosing proper windows and doors.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to reference various residential energy efficiency requirements, including those found in ANSI/ASHRAE/IES 90.1, residential provisions of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), Zero Code, and stretch codes, as well as utilize helpful resources and software for energy modeling and design assistance.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to design heating and cooling systems, including ductwork insulation and sealing, hot water systems, and mechanical ventilation systems.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to design electrical, power, lighting, and renewable energy systems, and utilize solar photovoltaic energy systems.
