This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.5 continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. This webinar is not approved in New York and other states which require HSW coursework; please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Mr. Manion is Co-founder of Manion Stigger, LLP, a law practice devoted to representing and advising construction professionals. His three decades’ experience in construction includes prosecuting and defending large payment claims in a variety of construction contexts, drafting and negotiating hundreds of construction-related transactions, and working closely with clients to manage operational risk. Mr. Manion brings to each task the combined lessons of an engineering education, MBA education, project management background, experiences as an advocate. Manion Stigger represents general contractors, construction managers, design-builders, and specialty contractors throughout the United States. 

Vincent T. Pallaci, Esq.

Managing Member of Kushnick Pallaci PLLC in Bohemia, NY

Mr. Pallaci is the firm’s managing member and focuses his practice on complex construction, business and insurance litigation. He represents general contractors, developers, subcontractors, owners, construction managers, architects and engineers in a wide variety of disputes including defective construction, excavation and property damage litigation, delay, scope of work disputes, mechanic’s lien foreclosure and defense, defense of OSHA violations, ECB violations, construction license agreements, labor law claims and employment claims. Ashley Robinson

Attorney at D’Arcy Vicknair in New Orleans, LA

Ms. Robinson’s primary areas of practice include construction contracts and litigation, surety law, insurance defense, zoning and planning, trademark prosecution and litigation, and general litigation. Ms. Robinson’s degree in Civil Engineering adds to her technical understanding of these practice areas. She represents general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and sureties on a range of construction related issues including: 

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts;
  • Advising landowners regarding zoning, permitting, subdivision, and variances;

Andrew Vicknair

Founding Partner at D’Arcy Vicknair in New Orleans, LA

Mr. Vicknair worked as a software engineer for a major medical manufacturer and as an electrical engineer for a major chemical manufacturer prior to entering law school. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a BS degree in both electrical and biomedical engineering and obtained his law degree from Loyola Law School in New Orleans has taught Louisiana Construction Law at Loyola law school as an assistant adjunct professor. Mr. Vicknair is licensed to practice law in the states of Louisiana, Texas and New York and is a licensed patent attorney. He regularly uses his prior work experience as a part of his legal practice. He is one of the founding partners at D’Arcy Vicknair, LLC. Mr. Vicknair’s primary practice areas include construction law, construction litigation, surety law, and all phases of intellectual property, including litigation, prosecution, and transactional matters. He also practices in commercial litigation and claims related to construction defects, payment disputes, subcontractor claims, owner claims, and claims by general contractors. Mr. Vicknair lectures on construction law topics such as Louisiana lien law and general Louisiana construction law as well as intellectual property law topics, including trademarks, patents and copyrights, as well as.

Course Title: Design-Build Contracting: Focusing on AIA Contract Documents

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This 6.5-hour course provides a detailed examination of the AIA contract documents used in design-build contracting. Specifically, the course analyzes AIA Agreements C141, A141, B143, and A142. The course will also explain the principles of design-build contracting and discuss additional agreements (C441 and A441).

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to understand the responsibilities of both the owner and consultant, the terms and conditions of the agreement, and the process for claims, disputes and termination of AIA Agreement C141.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to identify the general requirements and provisions of AIA Agreement A141 and understand the work that is covered by the agreement and how payments, claims and dispute resolution are handled.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify the architect’s and the designer-builder’s responsibilities under AIA Agreement B143 and understand how intellectual property, claims and disputes are handled.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to understand how commencement, completion and payment are processed using AIA Agreement A142, as well as the terms and conditions of the agreement.
