Course Title: Deep Foundations and Ground Improvements

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This 6.5-hour course provides an in-depth exploration of deep foundation design, construction, and testing, along with ground improvement techniques to enhance soil performance. Topics include soil mechanics, subsurface exploration, and foundation selection based on capacity, stress, and settlement analysis. The course also discusses construction methods, quality assurance practices, and advanced testing techniques. Lastly, the course examines ground improvement strategies, such as compaction, stone columns, rigid inclusions, and grouting.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to analyze soil characteristics through subsurface exploration, laboratory testing, and bearing capacity evaluations and incorporate them into foundation design.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to compare various types of deep foundations, such as driven piles, drilled shafts, and auger cast piles, and determine applicability based on performance and environmental considerations.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to evaluate load capacity, settlement, lateral stability, axial capacity and uplift resistance when designing and testing deep foundations.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to evaluate ground improvement methods, such as dynamic compaction, stone columns, rigid inclusions, and grouting, for improving soil performance.
