Course Title: Deep Foundations

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This three-hour course analyzes the design, application and installation of driven piles, auger cast-in-place piles and drilled shafts and dives deep into specific strategies, equations and methods used to test and evaluate for geotechnical load bearing capacity and structural integrity assessments.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the differences between various types of deep foundations, including driven piles, auger cast-in-place piles, and drilled shafts, identify appropriate applications and discuss proper installation methods.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to determine the ability for a pile to be driven using the wave equation and utilize both conventional static load testing and dynamic load testing.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to evaluate the structural integrity of auger cast piles and drilled shafts using low-strain integrity testing, by-directional static load testing and dynamic load testing.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to utilize cross-hole sonic logging and thermal integrity profiling to assess the structural stability of foundation members.
